About

CATALYSST is real-time fishing intelligence.

Catalysst overlays live AIS vessel tracking with satellite sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll charts, so saltwater anglers can find temperature breaks, bait edges, and the working fleet — and point the boat in the right direction before they ever leave the dock.

The name

Why “Catalysst,” with a double S?

The name is a blend of catalyst and SST — sea surface temperature, the single most useful chart in offshore fishing. The extra “S” is on purpose: it’s a proper brand name, not a misspelling of the word “catalyst.”

So it’s pronounced like “catalyst,” always written Catalysst, and the “SST” at the end is a nod to the satellite data the whole platform is built around.

What it does

One map, every ingredient

  • Sea surface temperature (SST) charts — high-resolution MUR satellite SST with isotherm contour lines and 1/3/7-day windows.
  • Chlorophyll (CHL) charts — satellite chlorophyll to read the green-to-blue edges where bait stacks up.
  • Live AIS vessel tracking — the working fleet in real time, speed-colored, with playback of where boats have been.

Stack the SST break, the chlorophyll edge, and the fleet on it, and you leave the dock knowing where the fish are — not where they were.

Who's behind it

Built by Chasing Pelagics

Catalysst is made by Chasing Pelagics, a Southern California saltwater fishing outfit. It’s the same team behind the Chasing Pelagics fishing content and daily SoCal reports — the platform is the tool we built to answer the only question that matters before a trip: where do we point the boat?
